19 Feb GEN4 C4 vs C4 Ripped vs C4 50x Review – Which is right for you?
All products are insanely popular, many people love the focus and energy that all products provide – however each Cellucor product has a specific purpose.
In this article we’ll look at some key factors that defines a great pre-workout:
- Strength & Performance
- Weight-loss / Thermogenic
- (Lack of) Crashing
Strength & Performance
Creatine Nitrate is a key ingredient in GEN4 C4 and C4 50x, but it’s not included in C4 Ripped.
At the simplest level, creatine helps move water and nutrients into your muscles. When training, it can help you push heavier weights for longer. Creatine has been studied rigorously for decades and study after study shows muscle and performance increases.
C4 50X has 500mg (50%) more creatine compared to the Original C4.
Additionally, Beta-alanine has been shown to enhance muscular endurance. Many people report being able to perform one or two additional reps in the gym when training in sets of 8–15 repetitions. Beta-alanine supplementation can also improve moderate- to high-intensity cardiovascular exercise performance, like rowing or sprinting.
C4 Ripped and Original C4 both have 1.6g of Beta-Alanine, where as C4 50x has 2.4g.
For most people starting out 1.6g of Beta-Alanine will be more than enough to feel the tingles and increase performance. However for the bodybuilding veteran who has used Beta-Alanine for years, more than 2g will give you the tingles you crave.
Winner: GEN4 C4 & C4 50x
The iron jungle is an interesting place. If you’re not in the right mindset, you may feel like your workout went to waste.
A great pre-workout helps fuel your motivation, this is what we call focus.
C4 Ripped and GEN4 C4 both have Beta Alanine and Arginine. Combined, these ingredients causes tingling and muscle-busting pumps. As stated in the previous round, 50x provides… surprise: 50% more Beta-Alanine.
However, Focus is where the GEN4 C4 and 50x really shines; the combination of Creatine Nitrate, Caffeine and L-tyrosine not only provide explosive energy, but also a general sense of euphoria.
C4 50x has approximately 100mg more caffeine and L-tryosine. So if you are sensitive to caffeine or stimulants, you will want to avoid C4 50x and opt for the lighter C4 or C4 Ripped.
Winner: GEN4 C4 & C4 50x
Weight-loss / Thermogenics
C4 Ripped is specifically designed with ingredients that promote fat loss.
One component of the C4 Ripped Blend is L-Carnitine, an amino acid that has been proven to support the transformation of stored fat into energy.
C4 Ripped, C4 50x and GEN4 C4 feature zero sugar, low carbohydrates and low calories per serve.
Creatine Nitrate is a key ingredient in C4 and C4 50x; it helps you push harder for longer and helps shuttle nutrients into your muscles as they need them. It’s critical to anyone seeking to add more muscle to their body. There is a drawback to all this however, as creatine can cause you to hold more fluids in between your muscles and reduce definition.
So if you’re planning to get ripped for summer, reducing your creatine intake is recommended to shedding water weight. It’s important to note that there are also different types of creatine and each type of creatine will effect your body differently.
Winner: C4 Ripped
Crashing is the term used for a heightened lethargic feeling after an intense workout while using Pre-workout. The combination of stimulates wearing off with the natural fatigue you experience after any strenuous workout makes it feel as if you’ve hit a brick wall.
With both GEN4 C4 and C4 Ripped, we found that the come down was really minimal. However, due to the extra stimulants found in GEN4 C4, the felling of “crashing” was more prevalent. That being said, compared to other Pre-workout’s in the market, both provided sustainable energy without a huge come down.
GEN4 C4 is one of the best pre-workouts on the market. It provides sustainable energy with great focus and performance increases. The addition of creatine definitely helps you push harder for longer. The results are stronger and more swollen muscles. When coupled with the right nutrition and high protein diet, GEN4 C4 can help you achieve your body shaping goals.
C4 50x takes everything you know and love of C4 and multiplies it by 50%. So if you’re finding that the boost of energy you were experiencing from C4 isn’t as explosive anymore, C4 50x is what you should reach for.
C4 Ripped is a great product that provides continuous energy without the water retention. Compared to GEN4 C4 however, the pumps, tingles and performance increases are not as strong. As a fat burner, it’s not our go-to product to assist with dieting . However, considering it is hard to find a solid pre-workout without the water retention, it has a clear place on the market.
Bonus round: Price
GEN4 C4 comes in both 30 and 60 serves and 9 flavours; whereas C4 Ripped only comes in 30 serves and 2 flavours. Update: Now available in 3 flavours; try the new Cherry Limeade C4 Ripped
Due to C4 Ripped’s smaller serving size, it’s much more expensive per serve then regular C4 and more expensive than comparable pre-workouts on the market.
C4 50x comes in a smaller serving size of 45, this is because the scoop is 50% larger. Which works out to be about $1.4 per serve at our regular price. When comparing it to GEN4 C4, if you were to simply to scoop 1.5 more scoops, it’ll work out to be around $1.38 per serve. So if you’re in the market for C4 50x, keep an eye out for any deals to get the best value C4 per scoop.
